The Tibetan language is a language from the Himalayan region. It is the language of the Tibetan people. It is spoken in Tibet, parts of China, northern Pakistan, Nepal and Bhutan, and Himachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal and Ladakh in India. Tibetan is an old language that has been spoken for many centuries. Tibetan has many dialects. People who speak different dialects often cannot easily communicate with each other orally. The Tibetan written language is not known by most Tibetans and is not taught in many Tibetan areas.
