Toko Shinoda

Japanese artist (1913–2021)

Toko Shinoda (篠田 桃紅, Shinoda Tōkō, March 28, 1913 – March 1, 2021) was a Japanese artist. She worked with sumi ink paintings and prints. Her art was about traditional calligraphy with modern abstract expressionism.[1] Shinoda's works had been exhibited in the Hague National Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago, Cincinnati Art Museum and other leading museums in the world.

She returned to Japan and continues to work. She turned 100 in March 2013.[2] Shinoda died on March 1, 2021 in Tokyo, aged 107.[3]
