In 17,000 B.C., ancient Transformers gather their energy from stars. One of them, called The Fallen, tries to harvest energy from our sun and is defeated by the others. In 2009, a piece of the Allspark, an extremely powerful cube, is used to bring Megatron back to life. Sam Witwicky is going to college, and is being hunted by evil robots, called Decepticons because he has secret knowledge about The Fallen. The good robots, called the Autobots try to protect Sam because if the Decepticons capture him it could lead to the end of the world. The conflict causes the leader of the Autobots, known as Optimus Prime, to be killed in a fight to keep Sam safe. Sam meets an extremely old Transformer who takes him to Egypt, where the device to get energy from the sun is located. He finds an object there, The Matrix of Leadership, which is used to bring Optimus Prime back to life. Optimus Prime and the other Autobots fight the Decepticons, and Optimus Prime kills The Fallen, stopping him from activating the device to take energy from our sun. The Decepticons retreat and Sam returns to college.
