Triangle productions! is a non-profit theater in Portland, Oregon, USA. It is one of the oldest LGBTQ-identified theaters in the United States, founded in 1989 by Donald "Donnie" Horn.[1][2]

Mission

The mission of triangle productions! is to entertain and educate through live theater. The theater aims to promote diversity and acceptance by addressing social and political issues.[3][4]

History

triangle productions! was founded by Donald "Donnie" Horn, who is also the Executive Director.[5] The theater is managed by an eight-member Board of Directors. Since its start, the company has produced around 235 shows.[6][7][8]

Awards

In 2021, triangle productions! won the Oregon Heritage Excellence Award[9] and a Special Achievement Award for its contributions to the Portland theater community over 30 years.[10]

Notable Productions

One of triangle productions!'s famous productions is “Make Me Gorgeous.” This show premiered off-Broadway at Playhouse 46 in New York City on November 10, 2023. Wade McCollum starred in the show, which received high praise from critics. The production earned a Lucille Lortel Award nomination for Donald Horn.[11][12][13]

Social Impact

triangle productions! is known for its bold theater, addressing issues like HIV/AIDS, Alzheimer's, bullying, racism, Japanese internment, homophobia, and abortion. The theater works with groups like Basic Rights Oregon and the Native American Youth Family Center (NAYA).[14][15][16]
