Ualá was launched in Argentina in October 2017 and Mexico in January 2019. It was founded by Pierpaolo Barbieri and financed by international investors like Soros Fund Management, Jefferies investment bank, General Catalyst Partners (investor in Snapchat, Airbnb and Kayak), Bessemer Venture Partners (investor in LinkedIn, Skype and OLX), Point72 Ventures and Kevin P. Ryan.[1][2][3]
