Iwakiyama Jinja is a Beppyo Shrine.[1] Beppyo Shrines are especially important Shinto Shrines in Japan which have historical significance or a large amount of staff and revenue.[1] All original Kanpei-sha and Kokuhei-sha in the Modern system of ranked Shinto shrines were the initial Beppyo Shrines, but over time more shrines were added to this category based on their current status or historical significance which was overlooked in the older system.[1]
History
changeIwakiyama Jinja is located in Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture. The shrine is dedicated to Iwakiyama-no-ōkami, the deity of Mount Iwaki, a prominent feature in the region.[2] The shrine has a long history and is an important cultural and religious site in the area.
