Housing in BITS Goa

The faculty, just like the students, live on campus. The students live in hostels, which were only single person-rooms until a few years ago when hostels with double-sharing rooms came up. This was done with the vision of accomplishing two aims; one, of having recently matriculated students to live there and two, to expand the number of students who are enrolled in this institution each year. The ratio of boys and girls is quite unbalanced, with girls occupying just about one-fourth of the hostels. Students are required to live on campus, with an in-time of 10:30 at the campus main gate, and no curfew within campus.

For faculty living on campus, the "faculty quarters" is where housing is provided to both non-teaching and teaching staff. As the name suggests, quarters are row houses, divided into sections of four. The allotment of houses is on a hierarchical basis (based on position held in office). In the year 2019, a new building project had taken root, building apartment complexes, called "Towers", instead of the traditional quarters that can usually be seen in colonies. Occupation of these apartments began last year, and some towers are yet to be completed as of 2021.

There are various food spots available on campus to grab snacks like the Amul Store, Red Chillies, Gajalakshmi (fondly called "Gaja" by the students, who frequent this little shop very often) just to name a few. The campus also has a complex that houses a supermarket, stationery shop, ATM outlets, vegetable and fruit stores, and other basic facilities. The campus is lively during festivals, with the people from various communities coming forward to celebrate right from putting forth cultural performances during Ganesh Chaturthi and lunch during Eid to children singing choirs during Christmas. The students and faculties come together to put up celebrations during festivals. Various classes are offered on campus to learn different form of co-curricular activities, like classical music, yoga, tabla, violin and karate.
