Rob Lanphier
Director of Architecture, Wikimedia Foundation
About me
I've been at the Wikimedia Foundation since June 2010, and an editor on English Wikipedia since 2001. In past employment, I worked at Linden Lab (makers of Second Life) and before that, at RealNetworks for nine years, where I co-authored/edited the RTSP and SMIL specifications, and later helped Real open source much of its code as "Helix".
My work
As of 2015, I'm focused on systems architecture work, which I plan to write more about on mw:User:RobLa-WMF/Blog. I've been at the Wikimedia Foundation since June 2010, responsible for managing the Platform Engineering most of that time. I use this account (RobLa-WMF) for any editing relating to my job function. When I'm just goofing around, I use RobLa.
Disclaimer: I work for or provide services to the Wikimedia Foundation, and this is the account I try to use for edits or statements I make in that role. However, the Foundation does not vet all my activity, so edits, statements, or other contributions made by this account may not reflect the views of the Foundation.
