Name change for Maaloula
changeGreetings to you, Rimon! Just now I saw the work you did on the Maaloula page, and I read your edit descriptions. As you'll see, that was an excellent way to get another editor's attention and help. This is what I've done:
- Page name change in simplewiki - the old spelling now is a REDIRECT page to the new spelling
- Added alternate spellings as "alias" for several languages in Wikidata for this item d:Q740804
- Added Maaloula (corrected spelling) to the List of cities and towns in Syria#Other cities and towns
I agree with you that it's best to use the preferred spelling as the page name, but it's also worth making a REDIRECT page for the main alternate spellings used in potential searches. For Wikidata, that's done by adding alternatives to the Alias field for each language. I want to encourage you to add more content to Wikipedia on topics that interest you. An experienced editor can help "wikify" afterwards. You're welcome to contact me on my User talk page. -- Cheers, Deborahjay (talk) 09:11, 21 November 2017 (UTC)
