Veronika Preining

Austrian Paralympic skier

Veronika Preining-Breuer (born November 21, 1965) is paralympic skier from Austria. She competed for Austria in alpine skiing at the 1984 Paralympic Winter Games in Innsbruck and in Nordic skiing at the 1988 Winter Paralympics in Innsbruck. She won a total of six medals: two gold, three silver, and one bronze.[1][2]

At the 1984 Winter Paralympics in Innsbruck, she won first place in the downhill event with a time of 2:06.14 (Sheila Holzworth completed the race in 2: 32.42 and Cara Dunne in 2:36.93).[3] She also won a silver medal in the super combined B1 event with a time of 2:44.63[4] and a bronze medal in the giant slalom B1 event with a time of 6:15.91.[5]

At the 1988 Winter Paralympics, she won a gold medal in the 5 km race, beating Finnish athlete Kirsti Pennanen and Russian athlete Valentina Grigoryeva.[6] She also won a silver medal in the 10 km race[7] and a bronze medal in the 3x5 km relay in the B1-3 category.[8]

She competed at the 1990 World Nordic Disabled Championships and won a gold medal in the 10 km race.[9]
