Victorian literature

Victorian literature are the books written and published during the rule of Queen Victoria (1837–1901). The 19th century is believed by some to be the Golden Age of English Literature (that is, the best age in the history of English literature), especially for British novels.[1] It was in the Victorian era that the novel became the leading literary genre in English.
The changes that happened in English life during this time are reflected in the writings from this time.[2] Famous book writers from this period include Rudyard Kipling, Charles Dickens (the most famous Victorian novelist), William Thackeray, the three Brontë sisters, George Eliot, and Thomas Hardy.

- Idylls of the King, a poem by Alfred Tennyson
- The Importance of Being Earnest, a play by Oscar Wilde.
