It is the first series to be filmed at the old Hill Top Community Primary School building[1][2] in Rochdale, England.[3][4][5]

The series

The show follows the lives of the teachers and the pupils at Waterloo Road, a failing comprehensive school.

The school has a lot of problems such as drink driving, underage driving, bullying, homosexuality, marital problems, exclusion, Huntington's disease, teenage pregnancy, abortion, bereavement, sexual harassment, mental illness and suicide.

DVD release

The first series of Waterloo Road was released on DVD in the UK on 26 March 2007.[6]

  1. Drummond was uncredited in episode six, thought she did appear.
