Rules change

Wheelchair curling is governed by the World Curling Federation.[1] Wheelchair curlers play on teams of four people.[1] One person on the team throws a 19.96 kilogram granite stone across an ice track. The track is 45 meter long. At the end of the track is a big circle. It has 4 rings. The diameter is 183 centimeters. There is a dot in the center. A team tries to get their stones the closest to the center. After each team throws ten stones, the team with the most stones closest to the center wins.[1]

The person who throws the stone sits in their chair on a rubber mat.[1] They use a special stick to assist in throwing the stone.[1]

Eligibility change

People who can play wheelchair curling have to have a disability. There are several eligible types of disabilities. They include paraplegics, people with cerebral palsy, people with amputations of the lower limbs, and people with multiple sclerosis.[1]
