Youth in Action is a European programme that lasted from 2007 until 2013 labeled for young people in order to foster a common European mindset where young people from different countries could enhance active citizenship as well as a common cultural European heritage. It is made of 5 main actions under which several projects are implemented by local promoters who submit their projects to their national agency.
Eligible participants are young people aged between 13 and 30 years old as well as anyone such as older youth workers who play an active role in the European youth affairs who are able to demonstrate their legal residency in any European Union countries. Promoters of the actions could vary according to the different specific aims of each sub action although as participants they also should be legally resident in one of the European Union countries. Given a budget of 885 million euros, evaluation of the programme published in the year 2011 has shown that in the years 2007-2009 more than 380,000 people have taken part in the different actions while only 21,800 projects received a grant over 42,700 one which were submitted.
