Vilborg Yrsa Sigurðardóttir (born 1963)[1] is an Icelandic novelist. She writes both crime novels and children's fiction in Icelandic. She has been writing since 1998. Her works have been translated into English by Bernard Scudder, Philip Roughton and Victoria Cobb. She is known for her Thóra Gudmundsdóttir (Þóra Guðmundsdóttir) crime novel series. As a children's writer, she won the 2003 Icelandic Children's Book Prize for Biobörn.

Yrsa was born in Reykjavík. She is married and has two children. Outside of writing, she has had a career as a civil engineer.
