city in the Czech Republic

České Budějovice (German: Budweis or Böhmisch Budweis) is a town in the Czech Republic. About 96,000 people live there (2009). It is in the south of the historical region Bohemia. The popular Czech beer, Budweiser Budvar, is made there.
