The Academy Awards are the oldest awards ceremony for achievements in movies. The Academy Award for Best Production Design recognizes achievement in art direction on a movie. The category's first name was Best Art Direction. It was changed to its current name for the 85th Academy Awards.[1] The Art Director's category was renamed the Designer's category.
