Matute in 2011

Ana María Matute Ausejo (26 July 1925[1] – 25 June 2014) was a Spanish writer and member of the Real Academia Española. She is thought to have been one of the most famous writers since the Spanish Civil War.

She was born in Barcelona. She studied at the international school of Hilversum in the Netherlands. She was a guest lecturer to the universities of Oklahoma, Indiana and Virginia.

On 25 June 2014, Matute died of a heart attack at the age of 88 in Barcelona.[2]
