Billy Williams (cinematographer)
British cinematographer
Billy Williams OBE, BSC (born 3 June 1929) is a British cinematographer.[1][2] He was born in London.
Williams won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography for his work on the movie Gandhi (1982). He is also known for his works on the movies Women in Love (1969) and On Golden Pond (1981).[3] He worked in the RAF as a photographer. After leaving the RAF, he got a job with British Transport Films (BTF), filming all forms of transportation.[4]
Williams retired on January 1, 1996. He was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2009 Birthday Honours.
