Chen Zhongshi

Chinese writer

Chen Zhongshi (simplified Chinese: 陈忠实; traditional Chinese: 陳忠實; pinyin: Chén Zhōngshí; August 1942 – 29 April 2016) was a Chinese author. He started writing in 1965. His best known work is White Deer Plain which was published in 1993. He won the Mao Dun Literature Prize in 1997.[1]

This is a Chinese name; the family name is Chen.

In 1966, Chen joined the Chinese Communist Party. He was interested in writing and soon began to work on a writing career. In 1979, he became a member of the Chinese Writers Association.

Chen died in Xi'an, Shaanxi from oral cancer on 29 April 2016, aged 73.
