Dave Manson
David Michael Manson (born January 27, 1967) is a Canadian retired ice hockey defenceman. He played a career total of 1103 regular season games in the National Hockey League (NHL). He played for the Chicago Blackhawks, Edmonton Oilers, Winnipeg Jets, Phoenix Coyotes, Montreal Canadiens, Dallas Stars, and the Toronto Maple Leafs. He currently works as an assistant coach for the Prince Albert Raiders of the Western Hockey League (WHL).

Career change
Before playing in the NHL, Manson played 3 seasons with the Prince Albert Raiders of the Western Hockey League (WHL). He was drafted with the 11th overall pick by the Chicago Black Hawks in the 1985 NHL Entry Draft. Manson would play 5 seasons with the Blackhawks, scoring 330 goals.
On October 2, 1991, the Blackhawks traded Manson along with their 3rd round choice (Kirk Maltby) in 1992 NHL Entry Draft to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for Steve Smith.[1] He played parts of 3 seasons with the Oilers.
On March 15, 1994, the Oilers traded him along with St. Louis' 6th round choice (acquired before, Winnipeg selected Chris Kibermanis) in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for Boris Mironov, Mats Lindgren, Winnipeg's 1st round choice (Jason Bonsignore) in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft and Florida's 4th round choice (previously acquired, Edmonton selected Adam Copeland) in the 1994 Entry Draft.[1] On July 1, 1996, he moved with the team when they relocated to become the Phoenix Coyotes.[1] On March 18, 1997, the Coyotes traded him to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Murray Baron and Chris Murray.[1]
On November 16, 1998, Manson was traded back to the Chicago Blackhawks along with Jocelyn Thibault and Brad Brown in exchange for Jeff Hackett, Eric Weinrich, Alain Nasreddine and Tampa Bay's 4th round choice (previously acquired, Montreal selected Chris Dyment) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.[1] On February 8, 2000, the Blackhawks traded Manson along with Sylvain Côté to the Dallas Stars in exchange for Kevin Dean, Derek Plante and Dallas' 2nd round choice (Matt Keith) in 2001 NHL Entry Draft.[1] On August 16, 2000, he was a free agent by the Toronto Maple Leafs.[1] The Maple Leafs traded him back to the Dallas Stars in exchange for Jyrki Lumme on November 21, 2001.[1]
On September 30, 2002, Manson announced that he was officially retiring from playing professional ice hockey.[1] After retiring, Manson became an assistant coach for the Prince Albert Raiders.
