Denise LaSalle

American singer (1934–2018)

Ora Denise Allen (July 16, 1939 – January 8, 2018),[1][2] known by the stage name Denise LaSalle, was an American blues and R&B/soul singer-songwriter, and record producer. Since the death of Koko Taylor, had been recognized as the "Queen of the Blues".[3] She was born in Leflore County, Mississippi. She was known for her song "Trapped by a Thing Called Love".

LaSalle died on January 8, 2018 in Jackson, Mississippi of heart disease and complications from a fall at the age of 78.[4]
