Iris Chang

American historian

Iris Chang (March 28, 1968 - November 9, 2004) was an American writer and journalist. She wrote several best-selling books. Her books included Thread of the Silkworm, The Rape of Nanking and The Chinese of America. She was born in Princeton, New Jersey. She was raised in Illinois.

Chang spent her last years living in San Jose, California. She used Risperdal and Depakote due to mood swings and depression. On November 9, 2004, Chang committed suicide by using a revolver.
