Joseph Maher

Irish actor (1933-1998)

Joseph Maher (December 29 1933 - July 17 1998) was an Irish-American movie, television, voice, and stage actor. He is best known from his acting in the television series Goode Behavior and the movies Heaven Can Wait, Mars Attacks and Sister Act. He played the character Mr. Chambers in 1984 short Frankenweenie. Maher won a Drama Desk Award in 1986.

Maher was born in Westport, County Mayo, Ireland on December 29, 1933.[1] Maher was openly gay.[source?] He was a naturalized US citizen. Maher died on July 17, 1998 in Los Angeles, California from a brain tumor. He was 64 years old when he died.
