2024 Elections

change

The Justice for All Party of North Carolina nominated Cornel West for President of the United States and Frankie L. Gist for Mayor of Winston-Salem to stand for election in 2024.[5] The Party obtained enough signatures to access the North Carolina ballot,[7] but was denied recognition by the North Carolina State Board of Elections.[8] Recognition of the party was opposed by the North Carolina Democratic Party,[9] Clear Choice Action,[10] and Marc Elias.[11] On July 2024, they sued the North Carolina State Board of Elections in federal court asking to be placed on the ballot and alleging a violation of their First Amendment rights.[12]

In August 2024, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina ordered the North Carolina State Board of Elections to recognize the Justice for All Party and place their candidates on the ballot.[13]
