Mbappé made his senior debut for France in 2017. Before that he was representing them at under-17 and under-19 levels. At the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Kylian Mbappé became the youngest French player to score at a World Cup. He also became the second teenager, after Pelé, to score in a World Cup Final. France won the tournament and he was the second-highest goalscorer. He received the Best Young Player Award for his performances.[4]

In July 2023, the chief of the Paris Saint-Germain football club said that the club is interested in having Mbappé make an extension to his contract (or make his contract longer). If that does not happen, the club wants Mbappé to transfer to another team, so that PSG can get a transfer fee. His contract will be finished by June 2024.[5][6]

As of August 13, the club gave him permission to train with the club's top team.[7][8]

[The French supercup final in 2024, was on January 4 and some time after that final, Mbappé was quoted (by media) in regard to Mbappé having a personal agreement with the president of PSG; That president confirmed [information].[9]
