Langkawi
island
Langkawi is an island and district in the Malaysian state of Kedah. It was a quiet place until 1986. Then, Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad turned it into a major tourist resort. He helped design many of the island's buildings. Langkawi is also one of the most important destination for tourists in Malaysia.
