Marc Bolan
Marc Bolan (/ˈboʊlən/ BOH-lən; born Mark Feld; 30 September 1947 – 16 September 1977) was an English rock singer-songwriter and musician. He was the originator of glam rock. He was known for being part of the band T. Rex.[1] Bolan was born in London. His career began in 1967
Bolan's March 1971 appearance on the BBC's music show Top of the Pops, wearing glitter under his eyes while performing "Hot Love", is seen as the beginning of the glam rock movement.[2] From 1973, he started mixing rock music with funk, soul, gospel, disco, and R&B.
Bolan never learned to drive because he was scared of dying young.[3][4] He died in a car crash two weeks before his 30th birthday on 16 September 1977 near London.[5]
Bolan was posthumously honored into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2020.[6]
