Mary Anne Krupsak
Mary Anne Krupsak (born March 26, 1932) is an American lawyer and politician. She was Lieutenant Governor of New York from 1975 to 1978 during the Governship of Hugh Carey. She is a member of the Democratic Party. She also served on the New York State Senate and on the New York State Assembly.
Early life change
Krupsak was born in Schenectady, New York. She was raised in Buffalo, New York. Krupsak studied at the University of Rochester, at Boston University and at the University of Chicago.
Career change
Krupsak was a member of the New York State Assembly from 1969 to 1973. She was a member of the New York State Senate from 1973 to 1975. She was elected Lieutenant Governor of New York at the New York state election, 1974.[1]
After being elected Lieutenant Governor, Krupsak became upset with how Hugh Carey treated her in office and felt she was not given enough to do. After saying yes to run for a second term with Carey in 1978, Krupsak decided to withdraw from the ticket and instead challenge Carey for the Democratic nomination for governor. She lost the Democratic primary to Carey, and after running unsuccessfully for Congress in 1980,[2] she retired from politics.
