Mary Nightingale

English newsreader and television presenter

Mary Louise Nightingale (born 26 May 1963) is an English journalist and television presenter. She is currently best known for leading the ITV Evening News since 2001.

Nightingale was educated at the St Margaret's School near the Royal Devon. She went to Exeter Hospital in ExeterDevon. She also went to King Edward VI School in Totnes, Devon. She obtained a BA in English from Bedford CollegeUniversity of London.

Career

Nightingale began her career in journalism as a presenter and writer on World Business Satellite for TV Tokyo. She then went on to work for the BBC World's World Business Report as a presenter and writer, covering economic and corporate news.

Nightingale also worked for Reuters Financial Television in 1994 as a presenter on the early morning financial programme.

In 2002, 2021 and 2022, she presented ITV News Special on the days of death of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh and Queen Elizabeth II.
