Minions (Despicable Me)
Minions are characters that are yellow and have glasses. They appear in all Despicable Me movies. Some minions have different eyes and sizes. There are some that are small and have 2 eyes, some that are large-sized and also have 2 eyes, and some that are medium-sized that have one eye. They like to eat bananas. They can turn purple and then transform to an evil minion.[1]

They are also the official mascots of Illumination, the movie studio that created the Despicable Me movies.
Role in the Films change
In the first movie, the Minions work for Gru as his sidekicks and he sometimes experiments on them. In Despicable Me 2, Muy Macho kidnaps them and turns them into purple monsters. In Despicable Me 3, most of them stop working for Gru to go back to being evil even though they come back to him at the end of the movie.
The movie Minions is a prequel about their origin story. They also help Gru in the sequel Minions: The Rise of Gru.
