Mychael Danna

Canadian film score composer

Mychael Danna (born September 20, 1958) is a Canadian composer of film and television score.

Early life and educationEdit

Danna was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and raised in Burlington, Ontario.


Danna served for five years as composer-in-residence at the McLaughlin Planetarium in Toronto.

Personal lifeEdit

Danna's wife Aparna is of Indian origin; the couples have sons and reside in Vancouver, British Columbia.


Danna stated composers like Jerry Goldsmith, Eumir Deodato, Elmer Bernstein, Alan Menken, Vangelis, Dave Grusin, Harold Budd, Peter Bernstein, Jean-Michel Jarre, Joel McNeely, John Williams, John Barry, James Horner, Howard Shore, Lalo Schifrin, Henry Mancini and Randy Newman as influences.
