Pape Diouf
was a sports journalist, agent for football players, and later president of Olympique de Marseille from 2005 to 2009.
Mababa "Pape" Diouf (18 December 1951 – 31 March 2020) was a Senegalese journalist. He is best known for being the president of French football club Olympique de Marseille between 2005 and 2009. He has been noted by publications as the first black president of a top-tier football club in Europe.[1][2][3] He moved to Marseille at the age of eighteen.
Diouf was born in Abéché, Chad, to Senegalese parents. His family moved back to Senegal shortly after Diouf's birth.
On 31 March 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Diouf died in Dakar due to the disease. He was 68.[1][2][3]
