Robert Fico (Slovak pronunciation: [ˈɾɔbɛɾt ˈfitsɔ]; born 15 September 1964) is a Slovak politician. He is the Prime Minister of Slovakia since 2023. He was Prime Minister before from 2012 until his resignation in 2018.[1][2] Fico also was the Prime Minister from 4 July 2006 to 8 July 2010.

He has been the leader of the Direction – Social Democracy (SMER-SD) party since 1999. In May 2023, Robert Fico was shot and injured.[3]
On 15 May 2024, Fico was injured in a shooting in Handlová in front of the city's House of Culture after attending an event at the House of Culture,[4][5] and was hospitalized in critical condition.[6] He had been shot in the head, chest and stomach.[7] A suspect was detained.[4]
