Sarojini Naidu

Indian poet, politician, governor of the United Provinces of Agra and Oudh from 1947 to 1949

[1]Sarojini Naidu (Hindi: सरोजिनी नायडू Chattopadhyay; 13 February 1879 – 2 March 1949)[2] was an Indian political activist and poet. A proponent of civil rights, women's leader, and anti-imperialistic ideas, she was an important figure in India's struggle for independence from colonial rule She is often called the `Nightingale of India'. She worked closely with Mahatma Gandhi. She is considered and dubbed as the "Mother of the Nation" of India. She was the former governor of Uttar Pradesh.
