On January 19, 2018, Drake posted on his Instagram and confirmed the mixtape's title, album art, and the release date of midnight.[2]
The album's cover art is the words Scary Hours on top of a black background with two hazy vertical diamonds below it.[3]
The album is the second in the Scary Hours series released by Drake. It is the sequel to the EP titled Scary Hours which was released on January 19, 2018. Another sequel titled For All the Dogs Scary Hours Edition was released on November 17, 2023.
The album features the single "What's Next".
