Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick

American politician

Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (born January 25, 1979)[1] is an American lawyer, businesswoman and politician. She is a member of the Democratic Party. She is a member of the United States House of Representatives for Florida's 20th congressional district since 2022. She ran for the same seat against then-incumbent Alcee Hastings two times in 2018 and 2020.[2]

She is the first Haitian-American Democrat in Congress, She is the second Haitian American in Congress overall after Republican Mia Love of Utah.[3]
