Suleika Jaouad
American writer, advocate, motivational speaker
Suleika Jaouad (/suːˈlaɪkə dʒəˈwɑːd/ soo-LAY-kə jə-WAHD;[1] Arabic: سليكة جواد) is a Tunisian-American writer, advocate, and motivational speaker.[2] She is the author of the "Life, Interrupted" column in The New York Times and has also written for Vogue, Glamour, NPR's All Things Considered and Women's Health. Her 2021 memoir Between Two Kingdoms was a New York Times Best Seller.
Jaouad was diagnosed with leukemia in 2011.[3] Despite being told having a 35% survival rate, she beat the cancer in 2014.[4] In February 2022, the cancer had returned.[5]
In 2022, she married award-winning musician Jon Batiste.[5]
