I think this is accurate, though it is unsimple. I have an A level in maths and have also done maths as part of a degree that includes Economics, I suggest this is changed to unsiple and put on peer revue. --Sim 18:30, 8 August 2005 (UTC)
- Currently, this article claims that numbers and numerals are both symbols.
- However, the English Wikipeda en:number draws a distinction between "number" and "numeral" (a number is the value of a numeral).
- Using its definition, the symbol "12", the symbol "binary 1100", the cardinal numeral "twelve", and the ordinal numeral "twelfth" -- all are numerals that refer to the number twelve.
- Should we draw the same distinction in this Simple English article, or is this the sort of hair-splitting distinction that makes things unnecessarily difficult to understand?

long scale change
I find the section regarding the long scale rather confusing. I suggest to move this into a separate article and only leave a note that it existed once in English and is still used in many other European languages (languages not "nations").
concepsychologicall change
Is this an appropriate word for the Simple English Wikipedia? I hope somebody can help!
