History of Sharia?
changeI came here hoping to find something about the origins of Sharia within Islam, or at the very least, the major historical developments of it within the islamic legal tradition.
Lede image
changeI noticed that the image in the lede was replaced with a 5 pillars of Islam image. From my knowledge, Sharia law is not exactly derivative of the five pillars and in fact conflicts it in some cases. I propose returning the previous image to the page, but I wanted to get consensus with other editors before just arbitrarily making that change. Thanks for your input! - I agree that the previous image is problematic because of its non-neutral point of view. If the five-pillar one isn't acceptable, how about this one, showing Sharia law by country?
- By the way, when you start a discussion like this, it's a good idea to mention it at Simple talk so that you get more participation. Otherwise, only people who have the page on their watch list will see it. :) --Auntof6 (talk) 03:25, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
- I would propose that is a much better image for the article also. And thanks for the advice, I'll drop a line at Talk. Lithorien (talk) 10:15, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
- The map looks good to me. Osiris (talk) 11:31, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
Merge with Sharia page
changeThis page cites no sources and is very incomplete. From what I've read some of the information is factually incorrect. I found the Sharia page to be much more informative and comprehensive. Perhaps a merge is in order? 192.12.184.6 (talk) 23:08, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
- We don't have a separate article called Sharia. That page is a redirect to this one. Are you thinking of the page en:Sharia on English Wikipedia? --Auntof6 (talk) 23:14, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
- There is one https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sharia and it doesnt redirect. Seems like a good candidate for a merge — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.30.12.130 (talk • contribs) 21:17, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
- That is on English Wikipedia. This is Simple English Wikipedia, a different site. The articles on each site are separate; it isn't possible to merge articles from diffetent sites. --Auntof6 (talk) 04:28, 30 September 2016 (UTC)

Marriage Section
change{{editsemiprotected}}
The sentences below are part of the Marriage section of the article. The first sentence is describing a dower not a dowry. Therefore, the second sentence should read : "This is known as the dower".
A marriage is a contract that requires the man to pay, or promise to pay some of the wedding and provisions the wife needs. This is known as the dowry.
{{subst:Requested move|Sharia|reason=Per WP:COMMONNAME, as the standard term used by the bulk of RSs on the subject. The redundant form "Sharia law" is mostly used by polemicists, and this title has a side effect of showing up first in search results and diverting about a quarter of likely unsuspecting users from the far better developed en-wiki article.}}
W.P. Contribution in other languages
changeIf there is something you find useful for others to read (which I believe it is especially necessary in the context of the Shari'a or Qur'an), put it in simple language. Using the WP simple english, makes your job easier. Translate it into other languages using google translater and check the accuracy of your translation with reverse translation.
This is how I do it and I recommend it to everyone. If you do this for your native language or any other language you can use, you'll do a much better job, but it works over 90% even in languages you don't know. Minor expression errors can be corrected by native users of the language. Ben Bilal (talk) 11:49, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
