I don't want this to turn into an edit war, so I'd like to discuss it here: Garrett Morgan did not patent the traffic light, contrary to legend. It's not a case where some disagree, it is clear that he did not patent it (see http://www.ideafinder.com/history/inventions/trafficlight.htm, even EN WP weighs in on the urban legend), and for the article to claim otherwise would be misleading.
