Overview
changeThis set of templates creates a table to record the results of elections using the Additional Members System, including elections to the Scottish Parliament, Welsh Senedd and London Assembly. The system is also used in Germany for elections to the federal Bundestag and the state Landtags, as well as in New Zealand (although election articles there generally use the {{MMP election box}} set of templates).
Usage
change1. Use {{AMS election box begin}} to create the title and header.
2. Use an {{AMS election box with party link}} template for each party or independent candidate that is contesting either the constituency, list, or both. There are variations on this depending on the situation:
- {{AMS election box with party link}} for parties contesting both the constituency and the list.
- {{AMS election box with constituency party link}} for parties only contesting the constituency.
- {{AMS election box with list party link}} for parties only contesting the list.
- {{AMS election box independent}} for independent candidates only contesting the list.
- {{AMS election box minor party}} for small parties without a Wikipedia article, and who are only contesting the constituency.
3. Below this you can put additional information about the election:
- {{AMS election box majority}} to show the constituency majority.
- {{AMS election box valid votes}} to show the number of valid constituency and list votes.
- {{AMS election box invalid votes}} to show the number of invalid constituency and list votes.
- {{AMS election box turnout}} to show the overall turnout (the total number of ballots cast, whether valid or not).
4. Then you can add a row describing the result of the constituency vote
- {{AMS election box hold}} to show that the incumbent party held the seat.
- {{AMS election box gain}} to show that the incumbent party lost the seat to another party.
- {{AMS election box win}} to show the result of a seat that hasn't been contested before, or has had boundary changes since the last election.
5. Finish the table off with {{AMS election box end}}, making sure to insert it on a new row. This adds a {{notelist}} template automatically.
