The Great Mouse Detective is a 1986 American animated movie. It was produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation. It was first released to movie theaters in the United States on July 2, 1986 and co-produced with Walt Disney Pictures. It is the 26th animated movie in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series. The main characters are all mice (except Ratigan, who is a rat) living in Victorian London. The Great Mouse Detective was the first Disney animated movie to be released under Disney's current animation studio Walt Disney Feature Animation.

The movie is based on the children's book series Basil of Baker Street by Eve Titus. It is also similar to the stories about Sherlock Holmes.
