Type 26 revolver
The Type 26 was a Japanese revolver. It was employed by the Imperial Japanese Army from 1893 to 1945. It was developed at the Koishikawa Arsenal and is named for its year of adoption in the Japanese dating system (the 26th year of the Meiji era, i.e., 1893). About 60,000 of these revolvers were produced between 1893 and 1935. This revolver saw use in the Russo-Japanese War, Second Sino-Japanese War, World War I and World War II.
The Type 26 was 9mm caliber, using the 9x22mmR ammunition, which is similar to the .38 S&W. The weapon was opened by lifting the top latch, after which the barrel was swung downward, activating the automatic ejector. Could only be fired in double action. The cylinder contains 6 cartridges. The weapon weighed 880 g unloaded.
