Ángela Ruiz Robles was a Spanish inventor. [1]She was most well known for making the first electronic book.[1] She was born in March 1895 in Villamamín, León Province, Spain.[1] Ruiz Robles trained as a teacher at the School of Teachers in León and became manager of the Escuela de Niñas del Hospicio. [1][2]Robles made inventions to make school work easier as a teacher. [1][2][3][4]Robles founded the Elmaca Academy with her 3 daughters in the 1940s.[4] The school provided classes about business management.[4] She lived in a place that did not use new inventions at the time.[3] This made her invention even more interesting.[3] Her most famous invention was the first electronic book which was known as the Enciclopedia Mecanica. The book could show many books in many languages. The ebook could light up at night, rechargerd, and be used as an audiobook.The ebook could light up at night, rechargerd, and be used as an audiobook. Robles bought the patent for her invention but could not afford to mass-produce it. She was able to finally create a prototype in 1962. Her work was recognized by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Economy in Spain in 2013. She died in 1975.
