Hi

change

I like your talk page design! BTW, on 640 Brambilla, it says in the succession box at the bottom of the page "next minor planet". Was that intentional? --Bianca (talk to Bianca) 02:56, 12 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

OK, thanks yous! --Bianca (talk to Bianca) 03:02, 12 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well other than that, your free to help construct the proposed policy. If you think its okay, I'm hoping the wiki will soon accept an assessment scale. --§ Snake311 (click here to chat) 02:46, 15 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

No problem;-))). Nice userbox, I do like pointy sticks. :-) I'll add it in a minute...-- Lights  talk  23:43, 15 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Block of User:東京特許許可局

change

Hi. I'm curious to know why you blocked the user above. I believe he was simply registering an account across the various wikis (see ja:User:東京特許許可局 and en:User:東京特許許可局). Blocking him is the equivalent of you being blocked on ja.wiki for your latin based username. Mønobi 15:07, 16 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hurr

change

Our article on Hurr isn't on the same topic as the English Wikipedia's article on Hurr at en:Hurr. I did not know how to proceed from here, as I cannot think of a reason why the article on Hurr created here was done with malicious intent. Should I just delete what is already there and rewrite the article to make it synonymous with the English Wikipedia's version of the article, or should I just mark it for quick deletion? Razorflame 15:16, 18 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think it should be rewriten, I'm not sure if the hurr this is about is even a real term.-- Lights  talk  15:18, 18 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
I will go do the rewrite now then. I just wanted to know what you thought should be done about it because I didn't want to go do it and then have my work reverted or something like that, so you needn't worry about rewriting it, because I will go do that now. And no, I don't think that the Hurr that that is about is a real term, either. Razorflame 15:21, 18 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm getting bored with making articles about Switzerland, so what sort of topics would be good to make articles here about? Razorflame 21:33, 25 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think it might be a good idea to start making articles on some of the other stuff you're interested in at User:Razorflame#Interests (for example, Reading is the first one, maybe you could make articles on books you've read).-- Lights  talk  21:53, 25 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Userspace pages

change

I've noticed that you've gone back to using userspace pages again. I would like to give you a helpful reminder to remember to stagger the deletion of your userspace pages. Gradient boxes

change

Thanks for showing me that! I wasn't sure how to make them without going through the arduous process of creating a box for each and every color, and ending up with a disruptively huge amount of code when the sig is used on talk pages. Thanks tons. TheWolf 14:01, 1 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Asteroid sorting

change

390 edits and a headache later, the default sorting should be done. I used main belt asteroids as the starting point then went back and cleaned up the stragglers from the all the other subcats of Cat:Asteroids. There may be a few left with the category tags individually sorted, but for the most part the job should be finished. -- Creol(talk) 20:13, 1 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. I was going to do the rest, but I had to log off for a while.-- Lights  talk  20:46, 1 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Solar system bodies

change

I see you are doing multiple smaller solar sytem edits. What are you doing and where? I would like to help you! SwirlBoy39 (talk) 20:07, 2 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm adding {{Small Solar System bodies}} to asteroid articles. You can help by starting at 740 Cantabia, and going back by clicking the "Previous minor planet" link at the bottom of each page. Eventually we will meet up somewhere in the 600's.-- Lights  talk  20:10, 2 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Can I put the template anywhere? SwirlBoy39 (talk) 20:16, 2 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Please put it just under {{MinorPlanets Navigator}}. Thanks!-- Lights  talk  20:16, 2 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Are we done? It looks completed. SwirlBoy39 (talk) 20:39, 2 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Nope, there's still a bit under 50 left.-- Lights  talk  20:40, 2 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Where can I find them? SwirlBoy39 (talk) 20:41, 2 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Using the "Previous minor planet" link at the bottom of 705 Erminia.-- Lights  talk  20:42, 2 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

(unindenting) Now it's done. :-)-- Lights  talk  20:56, 2 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Silly point, but since all 743 pages that had the {{MinorPlanets Navigator}} tag needed to get the {{Small Solar System bodies}} tag, it would have been much easier just to add the SSSb tag to the MinorPlanets template than to tag each one. The tag could have even included a shut-off option to ignore the SSSb tag in any future cases that might need it. 1 edit in 90 seconds rather than 750 in 3 1/2 hours. -- Creol(talk) 00:57, 3 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I never thought of that, it would have been a lot easier.-- Lights  talk  01:08, 3 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

RfD's for dictionany definintions

change
Long form

It has been a long standing practice to not bother with RfD's for articles that fall under the category of dictionary definitions. An RfD was run previously to determine the overall faith of such articles as a whole and while not the most intensive debate on the subject (here - he requested, I suggested, he accepted with not other comments for almost a month).

Future QD's of the articles that would fall under the scope of that RfD has become common practice as long as the basic terms have been met first: 1. There exists a SEWT article on the subject. 2. The articles linking to it are relinked to the wiktionary article. 3. The article is not likely to be expandable (simple verbs, adjectives, etc.. terms with no history or expandable meaning - dicdefs). Prior to these cases being met, the template {{dicdef}} serves in place of a stub template to note the pages in question. Ideally the page should be transwikied to SEWT but in most cases it is more than enough that it actually gets listed on SEWT's requested articles page as well so there is some hope that it may get created. Tygrrr is also admin over there and does help with this aspect though.

For a single relinking of a lightly used article, doing it by hand is fine but for more linked-to articles and multiple article linking, it is usually easiest just to hand the list of to a bot or AWB user. With AWB, simple replacement of a link for one or 10 different articles can usually be handled with a single click ever 5-10 seconds and saves everybody time and effort for the minimum actual gain involved.

Short form

Dicdef? Don't bother RfD'ing it. If it exists on SEWT, relink (or request a relink for a bot or AWB'er) and QD according to prior RfD. If it doesn't, tag it {{dicdef}} and list it on SEWT's Requested articles page. -- Creol(talk) 06:31, 5 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Okay will do in the future.-- Lights  talk  12:56, 5 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
