Birth/Death dates for WA Premiers change

Hi. Just wondering where you are sourcing the birth/death dates for some of the Premiers of Western Australia whose pages I recently created. Just wondering because these don't appear on the English wikipedia and I have been unable to find them elsewhere on the net (albeit with only a cursory look using Google). Would be interested as I will be progressively creating pages for the remainder of them. Cheers. Shadow007 (talk) 11:55, 16 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

With the exception of one which I had to look up the MCB cemetery record for, I'm getting them from a book entitled "Biographical register of the members of the Parliament of Western Australia 1930-1990" by David Black and Geoffrey Bolton. It's in our State Library in Perth as well as most uni libraries, and I saw it in the state libraries in Melbourne and Sydney when I was over there last. On en.wikipedia the source template {{Black and Bolton 2001|second=yes}} works. Orderinchaos (talk) 12:19, 16 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
These ones are from the first volume:
  • Forrest 22 August 1847 - 3 September 1918. Knighted 1891, Baronet 1918.
  • Throssell 23 May 1840 - 30 August 1910
  • Leake 3 December 1856 - 24 June 1902 (only premier to die in office)
  • Morgans 17 February 1850 - 10 August 1933 (see notes section of en:Members of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly, 1901–1904 for some info)
  • James 29 March 1863 - 3 January 1943. Knighted 1907.
  • Daglish 18 November 1866 - 16 August 1920
  • Rason 18 June 1858 - 15 March 1927. Knighted 1909
  • Moore 17 May 1870 - 28 October 1936. Second youngest Premier (Burke was third youngest) Knighted 1910
  • Wilson 12 May 1859 - 7 December 1918
  • Scaddan 4 August 1876 - 21 November 1934. Youngest Premier.
  • Lefroy 24 March 1853 - 19 March 1930. Knighted 1919.
  • Colebatch 29 March 1872 - 12 February 1953. Knighted 1927.
  • Mitchell 27 April 1866 - 26 July 1951. Knighted 1921. Only Premier to lose seat in office (1933), was almost immediately made Lieutenant Governor (due to the depression WA didn't have a governor, Lt Gov was an honorary, unpaid position) by Collier. Became Governor on 5 October 1948. Perth's northern freeway named after him.
  • Collier - 21 April 1873 - 18 October 1948 - one of WA's longest serving parliamentarians (27 Oct 1905 - 18 Oct 1948), only John Tonkin served longer.
  • Willcock - 9 August 1879 - 7 June 1956.

Date Linking change

Hi Oderinchaos, very suitable user name for the wiki! Please don't remove all the date links - I know when I started I over did it by linking every date, but now I only leave the important ones - especially when they link back to the date page for births, deaths and events. For example with Arthur Philip keeping his birth/death dates linked, and the 26 January arrival date which was linked to the events section. Good to see someone else from Oz adding to the simple wiki. Peterdownunder (talk) 20:11, 18 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oh okay, no worries :) I think it comes down to differences between wikis, I was following the general practice in place at en - will be more careful in future. Thanks very much for the friendly message and barnstar. :) Orderinchaos (talk) 00:55, 19 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Maths/Science pages change

Hi Orderinchaos, I don't know who else could help - there doesn't seem to be a big pool of editors to draw from. I'm happy to help review anything you want to do if that helps - I have taught a bit of maths/science (Year7&8 level) to special needs students. I have looked at few maths pages ans I agree with you that there is lots of simplifying and rewriting to be done. Keep in touch, Peterdownunder (talk) 07:15, 2 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
