How do we use it? change

I wanted to put a link to the Simple English wiktionary into a Simple English wikipedia page, but haven't been able to figure out how to do that. The page Alternation of generations is, I think, hard to read, and I thought such a link for the word "alternate" would be helpful. I've searched for suitable templates, and found that wiktionary:alternate goes to the EN wiktionary, and the wiktionary-inline template isn't appropriate. I think it would be helpful if there were directions on this page about how to use it. Sminthopsis84 (talk) 15:43, 24 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

I've responded on my talk page. Macdonald-ross (talk) 13:54, 25 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. So the template called wikt can be used, but the template called wiktionary is bad, as was already mentioned on its talk page in 2006. My next task would therefore seem to be to try to figure out how to nominate a template for deletion. Sminthopsis84 (talk) 14:16, 25 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

We use both for different purposes. wikt: is just built in to automatically go to the same language wiki as the one you are on. The other we have for when we want to link to en.wiki. -DJSasso (talk) 14:45, 25 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
So should template:wikt not be redirecting to template:wiktionary? I didn't discover wikt because template:wiktionary seemed to be the better coding to use because it was the "real page name". Sminthopsis84 (talk) 14:50, 25 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Return to the project page "Simple English Wiktionary".
