History
changeThe first settlements in Axtell were created in the 1860s.[4] The first post office in Axtell was created in December 1871.[5] Axtell was planned out in 1872 when the railroad was extended to that place. A railroad depot was built in 1872.[6] Axtell was named after Jesse Axtell, a railroad official.[7]
