Bipin Rawat

former chief of the Indian Army

General Bipin Rawat (16 March 1958 – 8 December 2021), PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM, ADC was the Chief of the Defence Staff of the Indian Armed Forces and the former Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army. He became Chief of Army Staff on 31 December 2016 after retirement of General Dalbir Singh.[1][2][3]

Death change

Rawat died on 8 December 2021 in a helicopter crash in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu.[4] General Rawat, his wife, Madhulika Rawat and 11 others were on the way to Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), Wellington when the helicopter crashed, killing all the people on board.[5] General Rawat was 63.
